Music from the On-Air Book Group
Every fourth Friday at 2pm.
When choosing music for their book group programme, presenters Helen Ottaway, Karen Stewart and Sheila Hedges find music that is mentioned in the books or has inspired other artistic works. These searches often lead to the discovery of new or unfamiliar material. Inevitably, more music is found than can be played out, so this programme addresses their wish to share the “other” music with listeners.
- - Frida Kahlo, books, paintings and music
- - Sylvia Plath, since her death in 1963, interest in her work has blossomed, and with it, musical responses and interpretations.
