Multi-instrumentalist and Mongolian Khöömii Overtone Singer Michael Ormiston has been interested in local music from all over the planet before the “world music” tag came about. He has an extensive and ever growing collection of rare tracks to mine from for each show as well as recording interviews with local musicians and listeners about their passion for music near and far.
This months show features a track from African Head Charge, Syrian Quanun, Burmese music from the 1960′s, extended voice and birds calls by Ute wassermann, the Mbira (thumb Piano) of the ancestral spirits from Zimbabwe, Tristram Carey : UK’s pioneer of electronic music, a Korean folk song from 1932, Kevin Coyne, Robert Wyatt and Carla Bley playing music adapted from Silence, a Harold Pinter Play, Venezuela 1948 and more.
