New on FromeFM 96.6

Netball trophyFromeFM has been on air for 2 months now and a lot has been happening.  New presenters, new shows and lots of new helpers volunteering behind the scenes.

New music shows include ‘Diggin up’ roots with presenter Pete Gage of Dr Feelgood fame.  Pete’s show is a mixture of blues, jazz and roots.  He did a great interview with Dwanne Eddie recently that is online for listen again or download on www.fromefm.co.uk.  If soul is your thing listen out for Ivor Turner’s new soul show coming soon.

‘A talk on the wildside’ with Carl Griffin is a new show that explores wildlife in and around Frome.   Carl was lucky enough to see and record baby owls nesting right on our doorstep.  Viv Lane is a new face on FromeFM with Tarot and horoscopes and for the more technically minded we have ‘Tech Talk’ discussing the latest gadgets, computers and lifestyle.

‘Coming soon’ is a new feature programme where we interview bands, performers of all types ahead of an event to give some background information and publicise the event.  We are planning to launch a new programme series that will give community groups their own slot to discuss what they do.

Station manager Phil Moakes said “At the moment the Frome Talking Newspaper for the Blind is recorded by FromeFM every week and distributed to the blind people in Frome, and many local organisations are featured on the breakfast show but we know that we will be even better in supporting the local community with our new show promoting local organisations”.

“The Aster communities fun day last week was a good example of FromeFM getting involved where we provided a sound system and DJs for the whole afternoon, and next weekend we are meeting up with the Frome Ladies netball club for a return match”

Our picture shows FromeFM ‘Sport Pie’ presenter Dave Watkins and station manager Phil Moakes with the Netball trophy we won last time for coming second!  We are playing the return match today so keep your fingers crossed!!
