Violet Peck's boring summer holiday is about to become a whole lot worse.
Violet has nothing to do all day but look after Stubbs, the family's hairy, smelly, spoilt-rotten dog. But when Stubbs inadvertently lunches on a government top secret and the fate of the British nation is suddenly hanging in the balance, Violet finds herself much closer to the family pet than any little girl could wish.
With the headstrong Stubbs on one side and Harry and Hannah, her conniving cousins on the other, Violet is plunged into a world of shop-lifting, mad scientists, belly-button rings and deadly viruses. And she ventures to a terrifying place that no one has ever been to before... so very close to home and yet so very far away.
