Presented by Paul Mallon, Tuesday and Saturday from 5 until 6pm.
Paul Mallon’s Soulforce shows are two, one hour shows of glorious original Soul, moving through the development of Funk and following the transformation into commercial Disco with a peppering of Jazzfunk just to top it off. With Paul interrupting now and again with all the “fun stuff” about the music, artists and scene that he thinks he remembers.
Split into two days and two flavours:
“Groovy Tuesday” – is the more soulful one.
“Funky Saturday” – is the more funky one.
Each show features some or all of the following: “The Cheesy Disco Dance Floor Filler”. “Wend’s One” – a seminal Soul or Funk track, chosen by……..well, Wendy of course. “Soul Samples”, “The Wendy House” and “The Jazz Stool”.
Paul has been DJing since the late 70s and has played Soul, Funk, Jazz and Disco music in some of the top nightclubs around the country, including Tiffany’s, Chemise and Nero’s more locally.
During the 80s and 90s he played in clubs all over the UK, Europe and Scandinavia.
While he still plays at private parties with his PGM disco, he loves sharing his passion for music on Radio where he can play tracks not normally heard on the dance floor.
And this is where the illusive enigma that is “mic-shy” Wendy comes in (everyone deserves a good nickname), although she never speaks on air, her love and knowledge of funk & soul helps shape the show through her involvement in co-curating the playlist.
Paul’s presented shows on many local and national radio stations including more recently the Breakfast Show on Soultrain Radio.
Tune in for an hour of great toe tapping, foot stomping, dance music and a huge warm comforting dose of nostalgia, lightly sprinkled with fun.
