We Love the River Frome
A Saturday morning in December in the centre of Frome by the River and there’s something going on…….
Rivers Action in Frome: one protester donned a wetsuit and gas mask, swam from bridge to bridge and hauled out a shopping trolley. The Red Brigade were there to mourn the dying river, there were ‘fisherfolk’ pulling out skeletons of fish, a samba band hit things to attract attention and shoppers were asked to persuade our MP David Warburton to support the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill. Roving reporter Alex Hart was at the scene. This programme is available to listen to here.

Doorstep Carols on 16 December at 6pm
FromeFM will be broadcasting a Christmas carols sing-along show on Wednesday 16 December at 6pm. With massed gatherings, lights switch-ons and town centre carols events cancelled across the land, there’s a risk that Christmas 2020 could be very quiet. FromeFM is going to be playing their part to change that by encouraging people to come out on their doorstep on 16 December for our very own socially distanced festival of carols.
Graham from FromeFM said, “All you need to do to take part is download the carol lyrics, tune into FromeFM on 96.6FM or online at frome.fm at 6pm, and sing your heart out! For the musically talented amongst the residents of Frome, the sheet music is available.”
“What would be even better is if people invited their neighbours and the whole street to join in. The Doorstep Carols website has downloadable invitations that you can use.”
If you’re taking part in the merriments, please do so safely. The government rule for Frome in Tier 2 is “you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space.”
Doorstep Carols is an initiative that was started by Shropshire Festivals, and has since gone nationwide. Let’s all bring a bit of festive cheer to our little corner of Somerset!

FromeFM’s new Football Show: The Robin’s Nest
Frome FM are delighted to announce a new football show called “Robins’ Nest” which shall be broadcast fortnightly on Monday evenings from 7-8pm [kicking off on Monday 7th December].
The show will be hosted by co-host of FromeFM’s sport show, Monday Night Kick Off, Patrick Moss, who also finds the time to present a folk show called Magpie’s Folk Café and is a regular non-league football fan, sponsor and ardent Frome Town club supporter.
The first show will feature discussions about Frome Town Football Club, Frome Town FC Women and all the teams associated with our fantastic town, interviewing Danny Greaves – First Team Manager, Ben Starr – Deputy Director of Frome Town Youth and Leah Poole – Head of Academy FTFC.
