96.6 is on everybody’s lips…

Cara Dillonas FromeFM launches onto FM radio.

Tune in to hear a magical mix of life in Frome.

Jazz legend Peewee Ellis revealing on FromeFM his childhood dreams to be a truck driver or an airline pilot, luckily for us he became a sax player instead.

TV Dragon, Duncan Bannatyne, telling FromeFM how he is trying to boost tourism in Somerset, or ‘Life on Mars’ writer Matthew Graham confirming our suspicions that Curly Wurlys really were bigger in the ‘70s.

Our FM launch event chat show at 7:30pm on Saturday 16th June stars actor Mark McGann and his wife Caroline, talking to Sam Phripp, FromeFM’s answer to Graham Norton.  Joining them on the sofa will be the well known folk singer Cara Dillon and husband Sam Lakeman, and with musician Luke Leighfield who created the Frome FM ident also in the spotlight it promises to be a night to remember!

Switching over to the studio at 8:30pm we will join one of our most popular programmes ‘Sport Pie’ with a roundup of local sporting events before regular music shows ‘Different sounds’ and ‘Come on lets Rock’ take to the air waves.

Before the official launch you can tune in to test transmissions of a full range of Frome FM shows.

FromeFM Station Manager Phil Moakes says, “On a good day FromeFM is like listening to More4, E4, Channel 4, Radio 4 and more music than you could hope 4, in other words something for everyone.”  And on a bad day?  “We don’t have bad days!”

FromeFM is our local community radio station broadcasting 24/7 on 96.6 fm and on the internet, with an amazing archive of over 1000 shows available for download or listen again on www.fromefm.co.uk.

Why is FromeFM such a good listen?  It’s down to really interesting people with great stories to tell and great music to play.

Local farmer Andy Fussells’ show keeps us up to date with the sunflowers on the A36 and what people get up to in his fields in the summer.

Presenter Eddie Dahl of ‘Lark Rise to Candleford’ fame (he’s an extra) dishes all the gossip from ‘on set’.

For more talk based programmes listen to ‘The Green Show’ featuring the local vegetable box scheme, or local artist David Chandler’s ‘Seeing Things’, with fascinating discussions and interviews with local and visiting artists, or ‘Our House’ property show featuring FromeFM sponsors Cooper & Tanner, DIY doctor and Pullin Rose.

FromeFM broadcasts a huge range of music programmes from Dance to heavy rock; Electronica to Live sessions featuring local musicians; Classical, Jazz and Blues with all flavours in between.

FromeFM records the ‘Talking Newspaper’ each week, which is also distributed on cassette tape to around 60 blind people in the area.

FromeFM does a great job of airing local issues like the recent ‘Frome Question Time’ debate on Saxonvale.   We get the low down on current political issues too by talking to our MP David Heath, Deputy Leader of the House of Commons, every month about how national politics affect the people of Frome.

Tune your radio in today to find out for yourself why 96.6 is on everybody’s lips.
